In the Heart of Historic Pictou

Welcome to The Scotsman Inn built in 1865, situated in the heart of historic Pictou. This Pictou Historic building at the top of Pictou's main street gives little indication of the elegant Inn awaiting within, which combines the charm of a bed and breakfast with the privacy of an inn, all in a graceful setting and a short walk to the waterfront, museums, restaurants, shops and live musical performances.

Major features include a tranquil balcony at the rear, with plants and tables and chairs. All rooms feature cable television, ensuite bathroom, Free wifi, private parking and dry storage for bikes. A delicious continental breakfast is included, and can be taken in either the dining room or the outside deck.

Inn Overview

Our Libraries on both guest floors are filled with a broad selection of books. Take one or leave one.

The dining rooms are perfect for either quietly reading the morning newspaper or joining in wide-ranging discussions. The included continental breakfast is comprised of various cereals and breads, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, juice, tea, coffee, jams, and more.

The deck is a wonderful outside space, providing a serene haven from the heat of the town. It is populated with large plants, providing both privacy and fresh air - lovely for both socializing and recuperating from jaunts.

We also offers bicycle rentals to our guests.

Pictou - Our home base to tour Nova Scotia

The Scotsman Inn is the perfect central hub for touring the entire Province. My husband and I stayed for a week while we toured around. Sandy was instrumental in providing details on where to go and which roads to take and which to avoid. With his help we went to wonderful beaches, ate at amazing restaurants, visited vinyards/local breweries/distilleries and had the best experience ever! Each suggestion Sandy provided was spot on! You do not find this type of service at the chain hotels. After long days out exploring it was very nice to go home to the Scotsman Inn each evening. Cathy and Sandy are genuinely warm and engaging. We really enjoyed the evening on wine and conversation on the deck! Thank you so much for making our holiday that much better.

Our room was on the 4th floor and was very comfortable. It is a historic building, so there is no elevator. The room had ample storage for our clothes and we lacked for nothing. During our vacation it was very hot throughout the Province and I was concerned that the room would be sweltering all night. My concerns were unfounded as the AC worked very well and we slept very soundly. I should also note that the bed was very comfortable, which help with that whole sleeping soundly thing. There is a big dining room downstairs where breakfast is served. It was so much fun to have breakfast at a table with the other guests. It was always a very diverse group and it was really interesting to hear about their travels.

The Scotsman Inn is located close to several places to eat and drink in Pictou. Taking Sandy’s advice we did not have a bad meal while in town. This is definitely a place to should spend several days at to enjoy all that is around it.
