Pictou - Our home base to tour Nova Scotia

The Scotsman Inn is the perfect central hub for touring the entire Province. My husband and I stayed for a week while we toured around. Sandy was instrumental in providing details on where to go and which roads to take and which to avoid. With his help we went to wonderful beaches, ate at amazing restaurants, visited vinyards/local breweries/distilleries and had the best experience ever! Each suggestion Sandy provided was spot on! You do not find this type of service at the chain hotels. After long days out exploring it was very nice to go home to the Scotsman Inn each evening. Cathy and Sandy are genuinely warm and engaging. We really enjoyed the evening on wine and conversation on the deck! Thank you so much for making our holiday that much better.

Our room was on the 4th floor and was very comfortable. It is a historic building, so there is no elevator. The room had ample storage for our clothes and we lacked for nothing. During our vacation it was very hot throughout the Province and I was concerned that the room would be sweltering all night. My concerns were unfounded as the AC worked very well and we slept very soundly. I should also note that the bed was very comfortable, which help with that whole sleeping soundly thing. There is a big dining room downstairs where breakfast is served. It was so much fun to have breakfast at a table with the other guests. It was always a very diverse group and it was really interesting to hear about their travels.

The Scotsman Inn is located close to several places to eat and drink in Pictou. Taking Sandy’s advice we did not have a bad meal while in town. This is definitely a place to should spend several days at to enjoy all that is around it.

Expedia Review

We came across the Scotsman Inn while we were in a hurry for a last minute stay to extend our honeymoon close to home for an extra night. We had no idea it was going to be the best overall hospitality service, run by some of the most caring, attentive, and overall amazing, owners. Sandy and Cathy go above and beyond to make you happy, comfortable, and attended to. The silver plate service during the breakfast in the dining room was an awesome way to start the day. Sandy is able to fill you in on every experience on every back road of the province. He went above and beyond when he found out it was our honeymoon, upgrading our room, and making dinner reservations at an amazing little spot we would have never found any other way. The money in the inn was put where it matters. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the bedding was luxurious, the provided toiletries in the room weren't your cheap small bottles, but rather high end full sized bottles, the Keurig in the room was a great touch, and the furnishings were beautifully suited to the overall heritage feel of the establishment. Overall we were so incredibly happy and excited to find this inn and plan on recurring trips to visit and make the Scotsman experience a regular part of our lives.
